Ephemeris Ring Properties

Earik,

I came across an image of a Wave59 ephemeris that has multiple rings for degrees, houses and prices; however, I don't know where to find the settings for the degrees and houses. As for the setting for the prices, I can't figure out how to use it. Please advise me on this. Do you have a tutorial video for this?

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

That's the W59 ephemeris from the old "Wave59 RT" platform, which was the predecessor to Wave59 PRO. So you can do everything shown there, and more. ;) Most of what you need is found in the ephemeris settings page, which you see when you set up the ephemeris. You can also access it from Format - Properties in the menu, if you have an active ephemeris selected.

Working from the outside of your pic in:
  • The blue price ring is set up in the lower left corner where is says "Price Overlay".
  • Degrees and houses show up automatically.
  • The first ring of dots (just inside the degrees) are progressed planets. Look at the very bottom of the settings form, in the middle.
  • The second ring of dots are natal positions. That's the second box down, just underneath the date settings. Go to the upper left, move down to the second area.
  • The shapes are overlays, which you can turn off and on in the menu. (Look for the "Draw" menu item at the top)

Yes, there are videos. Go to the member area (wave59.com - member login), then look for the "instructional videos" link. There are 8-10 esoteric videos posted there at the top of the page. At least one of them should deal with the ephemeris. There's also a chapter in Market Esoterica about how to use this to time the ES intraday.

Let me know if that doesn't help.

Also what's going on with progressions in the ephemeris properties?

I understand the concept of progressing the ephemeris by time motion increments of 1, 5, 30 minutes, 1, 30 days; however, I do not understand the concept of progressions linking the natal to a planet or a "Day for a year". Can you explain this in a post or is there some astrological publication that can clarify what Wave59 is doing with planetary Progression links?

If the chart is linked to the movement of a planet, does the ephemeris calculate planet movements differently than without planet links. Does this mean that the planets on the ephemeris natural speeds are no longer moving normally? Are the natal planets in the outer ring that move differently or the planets in the inner ring (spokes of the wheel) moving differently. In this linked situation, are the two rings of the ephemeris moving differently? What is the purpose of having planetary links to the natal?

Is it possible for you to answer all these question or will you be just picking only one question to answer and avoiding all the others?

Hi David,

W59 does two kinds of progressions:

1) Link to a planet: this takes the natal at a date, and moves it forward at the same rate as whatever planet you picked. Take the natal dots, then pretend they're a wheel and spin them as the rate of a planet. Works really well on markets, actually. If you want to read about them, look for any books/articles on "solar progressions".

2) Day for a year. This is traditional astrology. The idea is that the planets keep moving (from the natal date), but do so at the rate of a day for a year. So if you want to check and see where the progressed planets are at someone's 20th birthday, you would actually go and look their positions up 20 days after they were born. So they keep moving forward, but each planet does so at a different rate, and they all creep along really slowly. The main planet to watch (for markets) in this approach is the moon, since it moves fast enough to be useful on daily charts.

The first ring is the natals. That doesn't move at all - it's just where the planets were at the natal date. Progressions are the next ring out, and move according to whatever progression algorithm you are using. The actual spokes themselves do the same thing no matter what, and don't care if you are plotting progressions or not. The purpose is (as always) to use this stuff to forecast future turning points.

I believe I answered all your questions and didn't dodge any, but please feel free to ask again if it's not clear. ;)

Thanks Earik,

The solar progressions paradigm is confusing. I'll have to look for some articles, books or YouTube videos to help me understand what's this all about.
